REQUIRED --Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related science field. --Successful completion of a Pathologists' Assistant training program and certification as PA (ASCP), California licensure as Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), California licensure as Cytotechnologist CT(ASCP), or certification in Histotechnology HT/HTL(ASCP). --A minimum of 3 years supervisory and/or management experience to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, and build an effective team. --Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines (CLSI), College of American Pathologists requirements (CAP), and Joint Commission (JC) clinical laboratory regulations.
PREFERRED --A minimum of 3 years of experience working in an Anatomic Pathology discipline (i.e. Histology, Cytology, Frozen Section, Grossing). --Master's Degree in Science, Master's Degree in Health Administration (MHA), or Master's Degree in Public Health Administration (MPHA). --Knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement principles.
The Anatomic Pathology Manager, is responsible for operations within the Anatomic Pathology laboratory sections of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Under the direction of the Department Lab Director, this position has overall responsibility, authority, and accountability for the management of technical lab sections (Histology, Cytology, Frozen Section Suite/Grossing Room) as well as management of administrative support staff (Medical Transcription & Front Office). This position serves in a key role in planning, leading, and organizing of activities related to quality patient care, financial management, and human resource management. The position is responsible for translating the department's and UCDH's mission, objectives, policies and procedures into effective action.
